RUPTURES

RUPTURES on tanssiteos, joka käsittelee murrosten hetkiä, ja miten maaperässä tapahtuvat purkautumiset, repeämiset ja eroosio suhteutuvat vastaaviin tapahtumiin ihmiskehossa. Olemme kiinnostuneita maaperää muuttavista tapahtumista ja niiden jättämistä jäljistä.

Teoksen kautta syvennymme Suomen maaperän historiaan. Olemme kiinnostuneita Suomessa käynnissä olevista ja tapahtuneista maaperän muutoksista, kuten jatkuvasta eroosiosta, jääkauden aikaisista jään vetäytymisistä, ja Suomen muinaisten tulivuorten historiasta.

Tanssiteos pyrkii tekemään näkyväksi kehon ja maaperän yhteyksiä, ja näin muistuttamaan että ihminen on osa luontoa. Lähdemme liikkeelle käsityksestä, että keho on osa laajempaa planetaarista kokonaisuutta, ja että samat liikehdinnät jotka tapahtuvat kehon ulkopuolella tapahtuvat myös kehon sisällä, peilaten ja vaikuttaen toisiinsa.

RUPTURES työryhmään kuuluvat koreografi-esiintyjät Wilhelmina Ojanen ja Reettaleena Rauhala, dramaturgi-esiintyjä Kardo Shiwan, muusikko Tapani Rinne, pukusuunnittelija Mirei Kato, valosuunnittelija Riikka Karjalainen.

Tanssiteoksen prosessi on alkanut 30.6.-11.7. Hiljaisuus-residenssissä. Residenssiin osallistuivat teoksen koreografi-esiintyjät Wilhelmina Ojanen ja Reettaleena Rauhala ja dramaturgi-esiintyjä Kardo Shiwan. Residenssin aikana tutustuimme kävellen ympäröiviin tuntureihin ja niiden luonnon monimuotoisuuteen. Syvennyimme tutkimaan, millaiset prosessit ovat muovanneet tuntureita aikojen saatossa ja mitkä jäljet ovat edelleen läsnä ja näkyvissä. 

Teoksen ensi-ilta on toukokuussa 2027 Tampereella.

RUPTURES is a dance performance that explores moments of rupture, both in the earth and in the human body. The work examines how processes such as eruptions, fractures, and erosion in the soil relate to similar events within the body.

We are interested in the forces that shape the ground and the traces they leave behind. Through the piece, we delve into the geological history of Finland, including ongoing erosion, the retreat of glaciers during the Ice Age, and the history of ancient volcanoes in the region.

RUPTURES seeks to make visible the connections between the body and the earth, and remind us that humans are part of nature. We begin from the understanding that the body is part of a larger planetary whole, and that the same movements that occur outside the body also take place within it, reflecting and influencing one another.

The working group includes choreographer-performers Wilhelmina Ojanen and Reettaleena Rauhala, dramaturg-performer Kardo Shiwan, musician Tapani Rinne, costume designer Mirei Kato, and lighting designer Riikka Karjalainen.

The process began during a residency from June 30 to July 11 2025 at the Silence residency. The residency was attended by Wilhelmina Ojanen, Reettaleena Rauhala, and Kardo Shiwan. During this time, we explored the surrounding fells on foot and engaged with their ecological diversity. We investigated the processes that have shaped these landscapes over time and the traces that remain visible today.

The performance will premiere in May 2027 in Tampere, Finland.
