‘‘A return to vulnerability: from the personal to the political and towards the universal. An exploration and reconsideration of corporeal vulnerability through performance practice.’’

A solo composition by Wilhelmina Ojanen, presented originally as part of MA research project.

The performative output of the research presents an artistic framing of studio practice conducted on the topic of corporeal vulnerability.

This twenty-minute structured improvisation shares elements extracted from practice-based research, focusing on the components that arise as most relevant: gaze, prolonged use of time and extreme physical exhaustion.

The mediums of movement, sound and film are used in layered arrangement to allow for corporeal vulnerability and the elements encompassed within the performative research to be viewed from a multitude of perspectives.

The self-portrait film shown as part of the performance aims to portray the duality of gaze and the communicative potential it pertains to realise our common corporeal vulnerability.
